Nel 2016 DJABE e STEVE HACKETT hanno trascorso alcuni giorni sulla magnifica isola di Sardegna.
Vicino alla cattedrale di Nostra Signore di Tergu hanno costruito uno studio di registrazione temporaneo nella casa del prete.
Le registrazioni sono andate bene, gli artisti sono stati profondamente ispirati dai dintorni.

La session improvvisata di 3 giorni è stata registrata da Tamás Barabás, che in seguito, a Budapest, ha prodotto un intero album dai nastri multitraccia per creare Life Is A Journey – The Sardinia Tapes.
Pubblicato nel 2017, l’album è stato accolto con entusiasmo dai fan ed è stato acclamato dalla critica.
A tre anni dalle prime registrazioni, DJABE è tornato in Sardegna e ha registrato alcune session improvvisate.
Hanno suonato nelle stesse location e hanno registrato su nastro analogico a 24 tracce. STEVE HACKETT ha poi completato le sue parti a Budapest, prima del mixaggio, poiché il suo programma estivo non permetteva di condividere l’aria fresca sarda con i suoi amici DJABE.
L’uscita comprende anche un disco DVD bonus con un 5.1 Surround Sound e 96 kHz / 24-mit stereo mix dell’album, insieme a bonus visual features tra cui il brano “When the Film is Rolling” e live performances di brani come il classico dei Genesis “In That Quiet Earth” e la traccia di Djabe e Steve Hackett “Tears for Peace” e “Turtle Trek”.
“BACK TO SARDINIA” è un’esperienza musicale, nata dall’ambiente in cui è stata concepita ed è la tappa successiva del particolare viaggio musicale di DJABE e STEVE HACKETT.

Following a sensational 2018 UK tour, legendary guitarist Steve Hackett has announced the release of a 2CD + Blu-Ray digipak titled ‘Genesis Revisited Band & Orchestra: Live at the Royal Festival Hall’ on 25th October 2019 via InsideOutMusic.
The album was recorded on 5th October 2018 at The Royal Festival Hall, London, during the 2018 Genesis Revisited Tour which fulfilled a long held ambition of Steve’s: to perform the music of Genesis with a live orchestra. The concert featured Steve’s regular touring band of Roger King (keyboards), Gary O’Toole (drums/percussion), Rob Townsend (saxes) with Nad Sylvan on vocals and Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings) on bass, together with special guests John Hackett and Amanda Lehmann, and augmented by the 41-piece Heart Of England Orchestra conducted by Bradley Thachuk.
Steve commented – “It was a fantastic experience for both the band and myself to play alongside an orchestra and to feel the power of the sound this extraordinary combo created. It sounds equally compelling on both film and audio. I’m proud to release this exciting product.”
The 2CD set includes tracks from Steve’s time with Genesis and also from his extensive solo career. The full track-listing is:

Djabe & Steve Hackett – The Journey Continues Tour
Attila Égerházi, founder and band leader of Djabe has a friendship of 20 years with Steve Hackett, guitar player of Genesis. Their first musical cooperation took place in 2003 when working on Djabe: Sheafs Are Dancing. The first joint gig happened in summer 2004, in the Spitz Club, London. In 2007 Steve helped in filling the Petőfi Csarnok venue in Budapest, at the memorial concert for András Sipos. Hackett was greatly influenced by Djabe’s musical spirituality, openness and playing style that finally he himself asked to continue this joint adventure. Every year since 2008, Hackett and Djabe joins for a tour, featuring Djabe, Steve Hackett and Genesis pieces. Steve Hackett was featured on 6 joint albums with the band since 2011. The last 3 of these released under Cherry Red Records’s Esoteric Antenna label. Thanks to Cherry Red these albums are globally available and sold in the thousands. Besides these joint albums, Steve frequently features as a guest star on Djabe’s albums, while Djabe musicians participate on numerous recordings of Hackett.
Life Is A Journey – The Sardinia Tapes, recorded on the island of Sardinia (unique in its sounding and instrumental-progressive genre) brought great success to the Djabe & Steve Hackett formation. This album was born after 3 days together in the island, doing impros, when Tamás Barabás (bass player of Djabe) made it into a full-length studio album. Both Steve and all Djabe members found his work amazing, and Life Is A Journey – The Sardinia Tapesreleased globally on 4 October 2017, followed by a premiere gig in Budapest. The recordings of latter gig served as basis for Life Is A Journey – The Budapest Live Tapes, released on 12 September 2018.
The DVD version features a video documentary with recordings of the concert: Tour Is A Journey.
The journey continues in 2019: Steve Hackett and Djabe once again will be on tour in July-August.
