Nel gennaio 2024 il celebre gruppo ungherese DJABE e STEVE HACKETT hanno preso parte al festival BodØ Jazz Open in Norvegia, cento chilometri sopra il Circolo Polare Artico.
Djabe e Steve Hackett hanno suonato un concerto allo Svömmehallen Scene e Djabe ne hanno suonato un altro al Dama Di il giorno dopo. Hanno anche registrato un nuovo album in studio durante il loro soggiorno artico.
Come per il loro precedente album ‘The Sardinia Tapes’, questo nuovo album presenta musica ispirata all’ambiente in cui è stato realizzato e nata da una serie di jam session registrate durante i loro concerti.
Il chitarrista dei Djabe Attila Égerházi dichiara:
“L’intero soggiorno e la musica registrata sono stati straordinari e magici”.
L’uscita include anche un disco Blu-ray bonus senza limiti di regione con un mix audio surround 5.1 dell’album, insieme a contenuti audio e video bonus tra cui materiale live registrato in Norvegia nel gennaio 2024 e in Ungheria nel 2023, insieme al documentario Arctic Jam.
La John Hackett Band ha annunciato la pubblicazione di un nuovo album in studio e l’esibizione dal vivo durante tutto il 2025, tra cui una celebrazione dell’album di debutto di Steve Hackett, Voyage Of The Acolyte, in cui John si è esibito con il fratello e che l’anno prossimo festeggerà il suo 50° anniversario.
Il nuovo album in studio è il seguito del loro We Are Not Alone del 2017.
La band ha anche annunciato una serie di date live nel corso dell’anno, che la vedranno eseguire materiale dal nuovo album e celebrare Voyage Of The Acolyte.

Steve Hackett, con cui Magnus ha suonato dal 1978 al 1989, è ospite di “A Strange Inheritance”, insieme al polistrumentista Tony Patterson, il chitarrista di Unitopia John Greenwood, il musicista Andy Neve e i cantanti Louise Young e Ginger Bennett.
Entrambi gli album sono stati rimasterizzati per il vinile e sono disponibili come LP 180g Gatefold in edizione nera e colorata.

Bay Of Kings è stato pubblicato lo stesso anno del sesto album in studio di Hackett, Highly Strung. Tuttavia la sua etichetta di allora, Charisma, si rifiutò di pubblicare l’album ritenendolo non commerciale.
Successivamente fu pubblicato sulla Camino Records di Hackett con una copertina diversa.
Momentum , la seconda incursione classica di Hackett, vedeva il fratello di Hackett, John, al flauto ed è stato inizialmente pubblicato su Start Records, prima di essere ristampato da Camino nel 2001.

Si trattava dell’opposto del rock ‘n roll… Un approccio più romantico e personale già accennato sia nella musica dei Genesis che nel mio lavoro da solista. Nel corso di un incontro pubblico, Steve ha raccontato la sua avventura musicale con i Genesis, la sua musica, la sua arte chitarristica.
Con lui ha dialogato il giornalista Mario Giammetti, autore di oltre 15 libri sui Genesis e uno dei maggiori esperti internazionali della band inglese.
Ecco un estratto dell’incontro:
Una conversazione aperta alle domande e al contributo del pubblico, per ascoltare, dalla voce del chitarrista, le storie, gli aneddoti e i personaggi di una straordinaria vicenda creativa, una preziosa occasione per scoprire il suo talento espressivo e la sua tecnica compositiva, per esplorare, insieme ad uno dei protagonisti, il complesso universo Genesis.
La Biblioteca “G. Carducci” di Spoleto prosegue così l’omaggio ad alcuni dei protagonisti e degli album più influenti della musica e della cultura rock degli anni ‘70, dopo l’approfondimento critico, nel gennaio scorso, dedicato a Selling England by the Pound dei Genesis (raccontato e analizzato, attraverso le testimonianze inedite dei membri della band, da Mario Giammetti).
